We offer Kiln drying services for wood of all types. Live edge slabs, lumber and reclaimed wood.
Our Nyle L200M Kiln is ready to dry your rough cut wood, reclaimed wood or live edge slabs. We have a 48 Foot refrigerated trailer that can hold 5,000 board feet at a time. We can only dry wood that is at least 22% moisture content. Due to the complexities of drying slabs, we do not offer any guarantee on cracking or dismembering in the drying process. We charge $85 an hour to load the kiln.
Our Quick Dry process is for wood workers who have wood that that has a low moisture content of 12 to 17% but needs a quick kick to get it down to 7 to 8%. This drying process is fast and the Kiln is heated up-to around 150 to 160 degrees to basically dry the free moisture out of the wood and kill any unwanted pests like powder post beetles. Dry time is 4 to 5 days. $100 minimum.
Our Long Dry process is for woodworkers who have slabs that are "green" or "wet". This drying process is a bit longer period as we cook the wood at a lower temperature for a longer time to break down the cell wall moisture. Wood must be air dried prior to entering the kiln and must be below 22% MC. We aim to get the wood down to 7 to 8%. Dry time is 1 to 2 months.
During the drying process wood will crack, bleed sap and move. We do not guarantee the wood to be free from any defects after drying.
